- iopovid (Povidone-iodine 5%) Sterile
Opthalmic prep, isotonic solution is used in neonates to
prevent OPHTHALMIA NEONATORUM, with the highest reduction
rate in incidence of infections caused by bacteria, virus,
or fungus.
The microbicide action of iopovid starts immediately
a drop is instilled in the eperiocular region (lids, brow
and cheek) and irrigation of the ocular surface (cornea, conjunctiva,
and palpebral fornices) vc of the neonate. Its action is prolonged
for 30 minutes.
iopovid is very well recieved by the conjunctive
and the sensitive cornea of the newborn babies. Does not irritate
membranes nor ocular tissue.
